The Kitchen Table Project
The Kitchen Table Project of Afterglow Farm
The Kitchen Table Project was born out of a desire to elevate the role of food, agriculture and the environment in our community. Afterglow Farm has made a commitment to healthy, sustainable farm practices, a CSA model for sharing the bounty, and, through this project, a unique role in creating educational opportunities while faithfully advocating for a strong field to fork experience.
The kitchen table is a place where friends, family and new acquaintances gather to talk, explore, create, prepare and nourish. The Kitchen Table Project is a commitment to bring the multi-faceted, yet critically important subject of food to the table in a new and vibrant way. By working closely with Slow Food, the international eco-gastronomic movement, The Kitchen Table Project seeks to create events that inform and inspire thoughtful discussions and decisions surrounding our food.
Many years ago, the artist Paul Gauguin said, “The day is coming when a single carrot freshly observed will set off a revolution.” Perhaps it is time to gather together to look carefully at carrots and discover how that observation will change the way we feed ourselves every day. The Kitchen Table Project of Afterglow Farm is devoted to the education and advocacy of this tasty revolution.
